Cost Accountant

Position Overview
We's a leading manufacturing company that has been in business for over 100 years! We are seeking a Cost Accountant to manage our cost accounting functions throughout our Bowling Green plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing costs associated with production and ensuring that the company operates within budget while maximizing profitability. The Cost Accountant will play a critical role in providing financial insights and supporting decision-making processes related to inventory management and cost control.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and analyze cost reports to identify cost-saving opportunities
Manage inventory accounting to ensure accurate valuation and reporting
Conduct variance analysis to understand deviations from budgeted costs
Assist in the development and implementation of cost accounting standards
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize production costs
Prepare monthly business unit reports for management review
Support financial planning and budget processes regarding cost structures
Evaluate and suggest improvements for cost roll processes
Ensure compliance with SOX 404 and other regulatory requirements
Assist with the preparation of standard costing methods and updates

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Proven experience as a Cost Accountant or similar role
Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and practices
Experience with inventory management systems
Familiarity with manufacturing accounting practices
CPA or CMA certification is a bonus
Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
