Senior Municipal Attorney

Position Overview
The Senior Municipal Attorney will provide comprehensive legal support to municipal clients, including advising on various aspects of local government law, representing municipalities in litigation, and ensuring compliance with legal regulations. This role requires a seasoned legal professional skilled in navigating complex legal issues related to municipal operations, public policy, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and counsel to municipal clients on a wide range of issues including zoning, land use, and public policy.
  • Represent municipalities in litigation matters, including trial preparation and dispute resolution.
  • Draft and review contracts, ordinances, and other legal documents pertinent to municipal operations.
  • Advise on regulatory compliance issues and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal laws.
  • Conduct legal research to support municipal cases and initiatives.
  • Facilitate negotiations with stakeholders related to municipal contracts and agreements.
  • Develop and implement best practices for legal processes within the municipal framework.
  • Engage in government relations and advocacy to support municipal interests.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in the state of Texas
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in municipal law, with a focus on litigation and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of zoning and land use regulations.
  • Proven experience in contract negotiation and public policy.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in dispute resolution and trial preparation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with government officials and the public.
